How Does Our Water Conditioning Equipment Work?

Regardless of whether you purchase a single-tank or multi-tank unit, our residential or commercial water softener systems operates the same way. Each tank contains a bed of resin; when water passes through the tank, the resin bed interacts with the calcium and magnesium in the water. The calcium and magnesium carry an electrical charge, and the resin uses that to switch them with differently charged salt particles. The salt will be either sodium chloride (regular salt) or potassium chloride. The process removes plenty of excess minerals while adding a very tiny amount of salt to the water, tiny enough that it’s tasteless and negligible.

After the tank has done this a fair number of times, the resin will need to be cleaned of the accumulated minerals. That’s when the system automatically begins a process called regeneration. That’s where the tank basically cleans itself of the minerals and replaces them with salt again, to continue conditioning water. If your water conditioner systems has a single tank, it will regenerate at night, presumably when no one is using the water. If your system has more than one tank, then each tank regenerates separately, so there’s always a supply of soft water no matter the time of day. Our multi-tank water conditioner systems also only regenerate when they absolutely have to, so they use far less water and salt than a single-tank model. Sediment Prefilter

The Sediment Prefilter cartridge is designed to reduce sediment content during the prefiltration stage. It is commonly used for well water supplies.

The High Capacity Carbon/Sediment Prefilter cartridge is designed to reduce sediment and chlorine content during the prefiltration stage. It is most generally used for municipal water supplies or in cases where water is treated with chlorine.

K5 Reverse Osmosis Membrane

The reverse osmosis membrane is the heart of the K5 Drinking Water Station and its design is exclusive to Kinetico. It is not a FlexFilter and does not need to be replaced regularly like FlexFilters.

Taste and Odor Postfilter

Flow pressure of water is not compromised either, while ensuring great quality filtration and softening. Equipment does not use electricity either, compared to other brands that use electricity. Maintenance is not required every year for softener compared to competitors. This is a high quality product. Although expensive than other cheap brands, quality speaks for itself. In long run that additional expense does pay off.
